Set in 850 acres of Perthshire countryside, Gleneagles is home to three of the top Scottish Championship Golf Courses and a wide range of exhilarating outdoor leisure activities.
The three Ryder Cup Logochampionship golf courses are: The PGA Centenary Course - venue for the 40th Ryder Cup Matches in 2014;
The famous King's Course; and the secluded Queen's Course. The nine-hole Wee Course is perfect for a warm-up round
or for golfers just starting out. Whether you are a leading pro or an enthusiastic beginner, the Gleneagles golf courses offer an exhilarating test
for any golfer, making your Scottish golfing vacation the holiday of a lifetime.
St Andrews Links is the Home of Golf, where the game has been nurtured and developed for 600 years.
The St Andrews Links Trust manages the seven golf courses, including the Old Course, host of the 2010 Open Championship,
that make up the largest public golf complex in Europe. How many courses in the historic home of golf can you name? Most folk know about the Old course,
and many have heard of the Castle course and the New course, but what about the Jubilee, Eden, Strathtyrum, and Balgove courses?
Imagine how it would feel to have played on all seven!
The Dunblane New course is a two minutes drive from Trinity House. Dunblane New Golf Club is 'new' because until 1922 golf was
played on a small nine hole course adjoining the River Allan on what is now the Laighills Public Park.
In 1922 Colonel Jack Stirling of Kippendavie encouraged some local businessmen to form a committee to consider forming a golf club
using the fields no longer required by his estate. A close friend of Colonel Stirling, Major Cecil Hutchison, who was an expert golfer,
inspected the ground and, with some help from James Braid, the new course was laid out. The opening ceremony was performed by Mrs. Stirling
on 7th June 1924, when an exhibition match was played by four well-known professionals
- Arthur Havers, George Duncan, James Braid and Gordon Lockhart. The LONDON TIMES described the new course as 'one of the most beautiful
parks imaginable'. The SCOTSMAN said 'the course provides plenty of variety, excellent sport and a great deal of aesthetic appeal. It ranks with
the best Perthshire greens'. All of this is still very true over 80 years later.
Ten minutes by car from Trinity House is the Stirling Golf Club. This course is set in the old royal hunting grounds of the Kings Park,
and this adds to its unique character. The Kings Park has been a Royal Park for the Kings and Queens of Scotland dating back over 800 years.
Initially used for hunting, the earliest records show James IV played golf there as early as 1506.
Surrounded by a panoramic view of the Carse of Stirling, Ben Lomond, Ben Ledi and Ben Vorlich to the west, Stirling Castle and the Old Town
to the north, the Ochils to the east, and the Touch hills to the south, the views are unique. Even on an off day, the visitor has much to admire.
And there are literally dozens of courses within a one hour car journey from Trinity House Dunblane. So contact us to check availability of rooms on the dates you require.
